S&A Cherokee’s Chuck Norman to Receive N.C. State Alumni Achievement Award
CARY, N.C. (May 12, 2008) – The N.C. State Communications Alumni Circle has announced that Chuck Norman, executive vice president of S&A Cherokee, has been selected as one of two recipients for its 2008 Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award. Norman will receive the award May 17 at a special banquet at N.C. State’s Dorothy and Ray Park Alumni Center.
In the award notification to Norman, Communications Alumni Circle Vice President Molly Rushing wrote, “Your exemplary professional accomplishments, as well as your dedication to community service, made you an impressive candidate – one who exemplifies what this award means.”
Norman has worked with S&A Cherokee since 2003, helping to build it into the thriving full-service communications firm that it is today. Prior to that, he served as vice president of communication and governmental affairs for the Cary Chamber of Commerce. He has 12-plus years of experience in public relations, marketing, advertising, publishing and event and trade show planning.
Norman was elected president of the Raleigh Public Relations Society (RPRS) in 2005, and upon completion of his first term, was asked to serve a second consecutive term as president. He now serves on the RPRS board as immediate past president and member at large. In 2008 he was elected vice president of the North Carolina Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and was named to the PRSA Counselors Academy, a select group of experienced PR counselors. Additionally, Norman continues his practice of serving as a guest lecturer at N.C. State, where he speaks to students about communications and public relations.
Norman’s extensive community involvement includes serving as treasurer for the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce, a board member for the SearStone not-for-profit senior community, and sergeant at arms for the Cary McGregor Rotary Club.
“I feel humbled and honored to have been selected to receive the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award,” said Norman. “I’m very proud of my affiliation with N.C. State and will continue to give back to the university, the communications industry, and the local community.”
